A coffee maker consists of a water reservoir, heating elements, a tube, and a basket.
Water goes into the reservoir and becomes heated by the heating elements. As the water heats up it creates pressure inside the reservoir. The tube has one end at the bottom of the reservoir and the other end above the basket. The pressure inside the reservoir pushes the heated water up the tube, which then drips it into the basket.
The basket has a filter in it and ground coffee inside the filter.
As the heated water drips into the basket it collects in the filter and slowly drips out into the coffee pot. While it is in the filter it makes a tea from the coffee grounds.
