living room decorating advice?
Okay, here is my living room if you can try to picture it. I have laminate(dark reddish brown color) through out my entire living room(is about 16 long and 19 wide). I have placed a 11×16 light grey carpet cut off because I hate laminate. My couch and love seat are the color of wet sand(cappuccino, they call it) I have 2 accent pillows on each couch(striped dark brown, tan, soft golden color and pale blue), I’ve got a suede swivel rocker(beige) I just painted my walls tan and my coffee and end tables a chocolate brown(same as color in the accent pillows, basic black tv stand. I want to know if I should paint my book shelf, which is currently that fake oak-look, the same color as the tables? Oh and what color might be good for my 8×10 picture frames that I will hang on the wall(school photos of kids)
also, would I have to sand the shelf first, it’s not like an expensive real wood, it’s that kind that has the finish on it(your typical walmart .99 shelf)

if your bookcase is plastic, fake-wood, you can’t paint it…
How many 8×10 pics are you hanging? Look for cappuccino colored pic frames – too dark will make the walls look cluttered…
I would probably paint the bookshelf. Just be sure to prime it first. I’m partial to black frames, but you could go with white or any of your accent colors. Just keep them all the same color by either buying them that way or painting them. In my opinion, it just makes your photos look like a collection rather than a hodge podge of photos.
